2. Claw Shot City

Power Type: Law
Minimum Rank: 11lordLord/Lady
Objective: Upgrade to S.L.A.C. II
Recommended Area Progression Plan: Where Should I Go Next?

wanted posterClaw Shot City is a Wild West-themed area in the Varmint Valley region. Here, a whole new power type is introduced into the game. Mice in this region are weak to Law type traps. Anything else will not catch them.

The hunting mechanic is not really complicated. You catch mice for bounty rewards. To know which mice you need to find, you first have to get your hands on a Wanted Poster. These are sometimes dropped by Bounty Hunter mice. By donating or buying them on the Marketplace, you can increase your chances through Sheriff’s Badge Charms. Those ensure that the next Bounty Hunter attracted will be caught and will drop a Poster. On rare occasions a Bounty Hunter will drop one of these charms.

pyriteOnce you open the Wanted Poster, you will have to catch 4 gang members and a ringleader. You can only attract a ringleader when all the gang members have been caught. There are different types of Wanted Posters with different mice on them. You can also invite a friend as your deputy to help you catch those mice. Upon completion, you get a reward that consists of, among other things, Fool’s Gold.fools goldThis mechanic is basically a less extravagant version of the Treasure Maps. As with Treasure Maps, Wanted Posters yield more rewards and more Fool’s Gold if they are dusted with Rare Map Dust. You can work on a Treasure Map and a Wanted Poster at the same time.

Your first goal is to gather 500 pieces of Fool’s Gold. Aside from Wanted Posters, Prospector mice can sometimes drop a small number of Fool’s Gold as well. The Prospector Charm is said to help you in attracting more Prospector mice, but first of all, the difference doesn’t seem to be that huge, and second of all, even if a Prospector drops Fool’s Gold, it’s really just between 1 and 3 pieces or so.

The elusive Pyrite mouse can drop up to 12 Fool’s Gold. The attraction rate for those mice is very low though. SB+ helps in attracting this rare mouse a little more often, but your main source of Fool’s Gold will indeed be the Wanted Posters.ladyClaw Shot City is a tough area, because the first Law trap is pretty weak. I’m afraid there is no other way than to tough it out. Instead of wasting Prospector Charms, it might be the time to use something stronger to help with the horrible catch rate. Depending on what your inventory holds, I’d advise using something comparable to Ancient Charms, for example. Once you’ve gathered 500 Fool’s Gold, you can buy a superior Law type trap which will help your catch rate considerably.

Afterwards, you could gather more Fool’s Gold to buy the CSC Theme or one of many Kits that will help you in other areas. However, I suggest you save it for the Gnawnian Express! You’re going to need it there!

scrollSummary:
* Buy a Law type trap and start hunting.
* Catch a Bounty Hunter that holds a Wanted Poster.
* Sheriff’s Badge Charms significantly increase Bounty Hunter catches.
* Catch the mice on the Wanted Poster and receive a reward of Fool’s Gold.
* Upgrade your trap once you have collected 500 Fool’s Gold.

Hello, I just wonder if it’s better to buy Claw Shot base first instead of S.L.A.C.II. I must say the starting of Claw Shot City is very frustrating for me.Even the declared “short” adventure does’t really help the situation as it lasts for such a long time.

I wouldn’t buy the Claw Shot Base at all! The trap is certainly necessary, but the base is only good for Claw Shot City itself, and I would get out of there and move on to other, more fun areas as fast as you can 🙂 And I would use the Fool’s Gold that I collect after getting the SLAC II on the Gnawnian Express.

If i buy rare map dust, does it only work on 1 wanted poster only, the one im currently working on, or will it continue to double the rewards on all claw shot city wanted posters?

It’s single use. One only, I’m afraid.

Do you recommend that I skip CSC and just rough it out in Fort Rox instead because the grind is just awful. Currently 64% count.

Depends on how quickly you can come by Meteorite pieces for Crescent Cheese without a good Law trap … if you don’t need to farm for Meteorite pieces much, there’s no real need for a Law trap in Fort Rox. Or if you bought Moon off the Marketplace instead …

It can be done, the question is, what are your resources and what are you willing to endure? Questions I can’t answer 🙂

If you could get the Meteor Prison Core Trap without going through CSC and Gnawnian Express first, that would certainly be worthwhile in terms of time saved in order to get a great Law trap. So your plan certainly sounds good in theory. You’d have to prove if it can be pulled off, and how costly in terms of nerves and resources it would be 🙂
