The Marketplace is completely player based. All the offers on it come from the inventories of other players. This means that the prices may vary a lot. From time to time there will be other players trying to tell you that there‘s a conspiracy and that a small number of players actually control the Marketplace prices. Or people will want, for whatever reason, to set fixed prices for certain items. All of this is nonsense. The Marketplace is controlled simply by supply and demand. The more rare and more important an item is, the higher the price will be. No price is ever too high. If the price is high, it means that people are willing to buy it at said price, thus justifying the price set by those who are selling. There are some items that sell faster than others. Speculating on the Marketplace is fun, but can potentially be expensive. All those that want to make a quick extra buck on the Marketplace should start slow and get a feel for this place, compare prices a couple of times a day and maybe hope for a good offer. It is not easy to give tips for these speculations, because the Marketplace tends to be highly unstable in price developments.
